Teacher’s teeth knocked out

A San Mateo resident was arrested for knocking out a Woodside High School teacher’s teeth during an off-campus altercation last year.

Edward Lamarr Timmons, 18, of San Mateo, was arrested Tuesday at approximately 1 p.m. for assaulting Woodside High School teacher on Nov. 5, 2007. Timmons was arrested while in custody for resisting arrest. He was set to finish his 10-day sentence on Jan. 10, said Marc Alcantara of the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.

The teacher, whose identity is being withheld for his safety, was walking home from school at approximately 3:20 p.m. when he saw a group of people arguing in the area near Alameda de las Pulgas and Hull Avenue. The teacher attempted to diffuse the heated argument, Alcantara said. “No sooner did he say something then he got popped in the mouth,” Alcantara said.

The teacher lost two teeth and later required oral surgery, Alcantara said.

Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office concluded during a two-month investigation Timmons was the man who punched the teacher. He was not a Woodside High School student, Alcantara said.

Timmons was re-arrested and will likely be arraigned today, Alcantara said.
