Teens arrested for school burglary

Published on 6/7/2011

Two teenage boys were taken into custody early Monday morning for a burglary at the Immaculate Heart of Mary School in Belmont, according to police.

Belmont police responded to a burglar alarm at the school at about 12:45 a.m. and found that someone had gained entry to the school through a window, but apparently fled, when the alarm was activated, according to police.

Later in the morning, at about 2:45 a.m., a San Mateo County Sheriff’s deputy stopped two male juveniles in front of Carlmont High School. Subsequent investigation linked the juveniles to the burglary at the school, according to police.

The juveniles, a 17-year-old from Belmont and a 15-year-old from San Carlos, were taken into custody by Belmont police without incident and later released to their parents.

The names of the suspects are being withheld due to their ages. The case is being submitted to the San Mateo County District Attorney for a charge of commercial burglary against the two juveniles.
