Portola Valley bank robber arrested

A 51-year-old transient was arrested Wednesday in Santa Barbara for robbing banks in three California counties, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.

Raymond Donald Davenport was a suspect in the April 4 Ladera Chase Bank robbery in Portola Valley. He was also a suspect in a Santa Clara County bank robbery and another in Santa Barbara County, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

A search warrant was served on a residence in Santa Barbara and evidence relating to the series of bank robberies was located by San Mateo and Santa Clara county detectives. The case for the Ladera Chase Bank robbery has been referred to the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.

Davenport has ties to Los Altos, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
