Charges dropped against alleged burglar

Published on 1/13/2011

Charges were dropped against a man arrested for attempting to burglarize a home in unincorporated Redwood City Monday morning.

On Wednesday morning, the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office declined to file charges against Raymond Garcia, 27, of Redwood City, for “insufficient evidence the suspect had a criminal intent,” said District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe.

At approximately 11:22 a.m. Monday, deputies responded to the 700 block of Seventh Avenue on reports of an attempted home burglary during which the woman in the home confronted the man with a handgun. Garcia was alleged to have fled south on Spring Street and was later detained and positively identified. It was later characterized as a “misunderstanding.”
