Man commits suicide at Gazos Creek

A man allegedly killed himself Monday night at Gazos Creek State Beach, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were dispatched to the beach after a 911 call from a male stating “there’s a suicide on Gazos Creek,” according to the Sheriff’s Office.

While heading to the scene, deputies were advised that another 911 call via On-Star was received reporting multiple gunshots were heard coming from the beach.

Upon arrival, a deputy standing on a cliff edge was able to see someone lying on the beach. Deputies approached the body and found the subject has severe bleeding from the head and found a gun at the scene. Medics arrived and pronounced the subject deceased.

A witness reported that he observed the subject dressing in a suit prior to walking down to the beach, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The name of the victim is not being released until the next of kin have been notified. Gazos Creek is south of Pescadero.
