Published on 2/5/2011
A mountain lion was spotted near a golf course in unincorporated San Mateo County near Woodside Friday afternoon, according to San Mateo County officials.
The animal was spotted at about 1:25 p.m. near the Elks Lodge at the Emerald Hills Golf Course, located at 938 Wilmington Way, according to county officials.
Residents who see a mountain lion are advised to not approach it, especially if the cat is feeding or with offspring.
County officials recommend that people keep a close watch on small children and avoid hiking or jogging at dawn, dusk or night.
