Maverick's safety meeting planned
Published on 1/11/2011
Public safety officials and representatives from the Jay at Maverick’s Big Wave Invitational will discuss plans to ensure public safety and manage the expected crowds at the annual surf contest.
The Jay at Maverick’s Big Wave Invitational is scheduled to be held sometime before Feb. 28. The famed surf break is a quarter-mile offshore and the surrounding beaches and cliffs are not spectator friendly.
San Mateo County officials, in partnership with local, state and federal agencies, will discuss the detailed public safety plan 6 p.m. Jan. 13 during a public meeting at the Oceano Hotel at 280 Capistrano Road, Half Moon Bay.
