Mountain lion spotted near Emerald Hills
Published on 1/3/2011
A mountain lion was spotted in the Emerald Hills neighborhood Saturday afternoon, San Mateo County officials said.
The cougar was seen near Oak Park Way and Sunset Way at about 1:15 p.m., according to the county office of emergency services.
Mountain lions typically do not approach humans.
However, residents are advised to stay safe by keeping small children close and avoiding hiking or jogging at dawn, dusk or at night when the cats are most active.
For more information on mountain lions, visit the state Department of Fish and Game’s website at www.keepmewild.org.
