A package sent to Oracle CEO Larry Ellison prompted company officials to call police and the county bomb squad Friday afternoon after an “internal screening process” showed something with electronic components contained within.
At approximately 12:47 p.m., police were called to the software company’s Redwood Shores location after Oracle officials could not determine who sent the package, said Redwood City police Sgt. Kevin Dolezal.
The bomb squad used a water cannon device to open the package which revealed a video phone, which Dolezal described as “inert.”
“It was the safe and prudent thing to do,” he said.
The scene was cleared by 3:30 p.m., Dolezal said.
