The man found inside of a car on an embankment along Skyline Boulevard Sunday morning, Gonzalo Martinez-Hernandez, was reported missing by his family and was found in a car he owned, according to a San Mateo County sheriff’s official.
At 9 a.m., a motorist who had stopped along the road on Skyline Boulevard about a mile south of State Route 92, glimpsed a shiny object about 80 feet down the embankment next to the road and called authorities to report a possible abandoned vehicle, Redwood City CHP spokesman Art Montiel said.
Martinez-Hernandez, 50, was an East Palo Alto resident.
When authorities arrived at around 9:30 a.m., they found the body of Martinez-Hernandez in the backseat of the car, Montiel said.
There were no obvious signs of foul play, so authorities are handling the incident as a collision at this time, he said.
The cause of death is still under investigation.
