Husband arrested for wife's Woodside murder

The husband of a Woodside artist who authorities originally believed committed suicide in April has been arrested on suspicion of her homicide, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Pooroushasb “Peter” Parineh was arrested at approximately 3 p.m. Thursday, June 17 for the murder of his wife, Parima Parineh.

Parineh reported his wife dead at approximately 4 p.m. April 13, telling authorities he found her after returning to their home at 50 Fox Hill Road. Parima Parineh, 56, had been shot several times and Parineh reportedly said she had taken her own life.

Parima Parineh was discovered in a bedroom of the home which sits in the unincorporated area near Woodside. Parineh lived at the residence with her husband and two grown sons.

There were no signs of forced entry or that Parima Parineh’s wounds were self-inflicted, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

A gun was reportedly recovered from the scene.

Following the discovery, authorities said that her family were not being cooperative with the investigation.

Authorities have been investigating the shooting since and determined Parineh responsible based on evidence at the scene and evidence subsequently discovered. The Sheriff’s Office did not disclose the exact nature of that evidence.

Authorities also did not disclose a possible motive, although the couple were reportedly in financial straits and their multi-million dollar home was in foreclosure.

Parineh was raised in Tehran, Iran and moved to the United States in her 20s.

Sheriff’s deputies arrested Peter Parineh in the vicinity of Mathilda and West Olive avenues in Sunnyvale and he was booked into Maguire Correctional Facility.

The case will now be forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for consideration.
